What a Great Community Out-reach!Historical contracts between communities & churches show that the church was the historical timekeeper and public forum for the town. The church bell was rung at specific times of the day to announce the hour. Steeples & towers were built to elevate the bells and thus send the bell sound farther away, and more bells were added to increase the volume and possible messages. During times of drought, the church bell tower / steeple became the fire watch tower.
